Stalling without accelerator in?

i have 2000 impala 3.4 6 cyl. i no its not good to run tank on empty i do al the time now when i try to start car it turns over but wont start if i put foot on accelerator it starts- when i release pedal it stalls... i never changed fuel filter, im gna go get some fuel injector cleaner idk if that will help any ideas please help
