I need a low to medium caliber rifle.?

My brother is wanting a rifle that is either lever, bolt, or a pump that is between bigger than a .22 but smaller than a .223 or is a pitol caliber such as the .44 magnum, .357 magnum or smaller. It needs to be under $350 and be a very reliable and dependable gun. It is for your standard varmint hunting and needs to range from rabit/skunt to coyote/bobcat. Preferable a lever actoin or the bolt. And again needs to be under $350. Please help and give a model and a brand for it and needs to be a well know and reputable brand.
