Why do some people want Bella and Jacob to end up together even though Jacob didn't imprint on her???

okayy so jacob fans, why would bella and jacob end up together instead of bella and edward?? first of all, the book is about a girl who falls in love with with EDWARD...a VAMPIRE. stephenie meyer isnt just gonna twist the plot so she ends up with the werewolf....that would ruin the point. plus, jacob didn't imprint on bella after he changed into a werewolf...so that means that even tho he loves her, he could always imprint on another girl. think about sam! he was sooo in love with leah but then he saw emily and imprinted on her! i would never want that to happen to bella!! i love jacob...hes a great character...but it wouldnt make sense for them to end up together.... am i missing something obvious???
