Why couldn't they come up with something more clever than the Houston Texans?

I'm not really into football or don't know anything about it, but I do know that a team's name is chosen by something that has to do with the city like Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, or Miami Dolphins. But Houston Texans? What a load of ****. It's got to be the most boring team name. It's like saying the Honolulu Hawaiians or New Orleans Lousianans. How did they get this name? Sorry if I sound ignorant, but it's that I'm not into football.
